The Gospel of Jesus Christ

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

In the Bible, many verses explain what God did through His love for us. Below are several references telling the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ.

  • “The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christour Lord” (Romans 6:23).
  • “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16–17).
  • “God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
  • “The kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior” (Titus 3:4–6).

When you believe on Jesus Christ, accepting God’s gift of salvation, you are justified (declared free of the guilt and penalty of sin) before God because of what Jesus has done. God forgives you of all of your sins. Your relationship with God is restored; you become His child. (See I John 3:8–10.) You are redeemed from the bondage to sin and will spend eternity in heaven with God. (See Romans 6:22.)

The Holy Spirit dwells in each believer. He is “the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…” (Romans 8:15–17).
