VISIONS AND DREAMS

"Now it came to pass ... that the heavens were opened 
and I saw visions of God."
(Ezekiel 1:1)

I. A vision may be either true or false.

A. False prophets receive visions by the deceit of their own hearts.

B. But it must also be recognized that God has spoken and revealed Himself to man through dreams and visions.

C. The authenticity and source of a dream or vision may be determined when we recognize who it is that receives the glory for it.

II. God does not give visions just for the sake of giving visions. There are specific purposes for which God speaks to man in this way.

A. Assurance, encouragement, and comfort.

Genesis 15:1; 28:12-17; 46:2, Acts 18:9-11

B. Direction, instruction, and guidance.

Genesis 46:2

Acts 9:10-12, etc.

C. Exhortation and correction.

D. Foreshadowing of the future.

E. Revelation of the plan and purposes of God.

III. How are visions received?

A. A vision can be revealed to one person, while all others present may see nothing.

Daniel 10:7

B. Scripture mentions several times in which a vision was received while the per son was in prayer.

1. Zechariah in the temple.

Luke 1:8-23

2. Peter on the housetop in Joppa.

Acts 10:10, 11; 11:5

3. Paul in the temple.

Acts 22:17

4. Daniel.

Daniel 9:20, 21

C. Many times God will speak to man in a vision in his sleep.

Genesis 20:3; 28:11, 12, 16; 31:24; 41:1-7, 11: 46:2I, Kings 3:52, Chronicles 1:7, Job33:15-16, Daniel 2:28; 7:1-2, 7; 13; 4:5, 10, 13
Zechariah 1:8, Matthew 1:20, 24

D. Visions have been received by a person while he was "slain in the spirit" (that is, "under the power" of God) Ezekiel chapters 1-3; 8:3 Revelation 1:17, etc .

E. But Ezekiel and Daniel both individually received visions while just sitting by a river. (Ezekiel 1:1; 43:3; Daniel 10:4-8).

Ezekiel also received a vision when he was just sitting in his house with the elders (ch. 8:1-3), and another time while he was in the plain (ch. 3:22-23, etc.).

F. The human reaction to such supernatural visions is often one of great fear and dread, and the experience itself may completely drain one of all his physical strength.

IV. Some dreams or visions, if they are symbolic in nature, require an interpretation.

A. An interpretation may be given in sleep, even as visions are often received.

B. The interpretation of a vision or dream cannot be sought of those involved in witchcraft or divination.

Genesis 41:8, 24, Daniel 2:1-2, 10, 11, 27, 28; 4:7; 5:7, 8

C. Nor can it be figured out with the understanding.

Genesis 41:16, Daniel 2:30

D. It is purely a gift from God.

Genesis 41:15, 16, Daniel 1:17; 2:1, 2, 10, 11, 20-23, 27, 28

V. In these latter days, with the outpouring of the Spirit of God in our midst, God is fulfilling the prophecy of  Joel with an increasing number of visions and dreams occurring among His people.

SEVEN VIRTUES and how they cure each of the  SEVEN DEADLY SINS

The seven virtues were originally defined in the poem, Psychomachia, by Aurelius Clemens Prudentius, a Christian governor who died around 410 A.D.

Because of the poem’s prevalence the concept and idea of the seven virtues spread throughout Europe.

The following is a listing of the seven virtues and how they cure each of the seven deadly sins:

• Kindness = cures envy by placing the desire to help others above the need to supersede them.

• Temperance = cures gluttony by implanting the desire to be healthy, therefore making one fit to serve others.

• Charity or love = cures greed by putting the desire to help others above storing up treasure for one’s self.

• Chastity or self-control = cures lust by controlling passion and leveraging that energy for the good of others.

• Humility = cures pride by removing one's ego and boastfulness, Therefore allowing the attitude of service.

• Diligence or Zeal = cures slothfulness by placing the best interest of others above the life of ease and relaxation.

• Patience = cures wrath by taking time to understand the needs and desires of others before acting or speaking.

OBEDIENCE: DIGGING DEEP

Praise the Lord.

Today we speak about obedience.
Obedience is one of the kingdom principles that is fundamental to the journey of life of any Christian. This is of course on two levels. The first is obedience to authorities, both spiritual and physical, and the second being obedience to the voice of God.
Today we will be speaking on the latter, obedience to the voice of God. We will see how obedience is an evidence of your belief of the word of God, and how obedience of that word will save you when the waves of life start crashing down on your plans on account of the word that came.

Let’s examine a scripture, Jesus was speaking, and He said, “whoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like; He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on the rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat VEHEMENTLY upon that plan, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.” (Luke 6:47-48). What Jesus was simply saying here is that obedience to His word that we constantly hear provides depths for us to lay our “houses” (lives) on a secure footing. The secure footing here being the rock. Another striking revelation this scripture brings to bear is that the rock is not found on the surface. The implication of which is that the stronghold of any man’s life, ministry and relationship with God is in His level of obedience to the instructions of God.

Another truth that this scripture reveals is the fact that the storms of life will come crashing down menacingly on any structure which is built in light of the word heard. Such structure could be finances, ministry, relationship(s), family, etc, but as far as that structure is built in the blueprint of the word, a flood will arise and the stream will try to collapse the “house”. However, as far as such structure/house is firmly affixed into the land, having created depth in the earth by obedience, the floods will not prevail.
This parable as given by Jesus indeed shows us why many persons in the body of Christ are not victorious. This is as a result of the fact that indeed they come the come, they hear the hear, but fail to do the do. When God lays plans in our hearts, and shows us what to do in dreams or visions, how many bother to ask God what role we are to play in all this, and actually obey?

What has God placed in your heart today in regards to that great future of yours? And what has He told you to do in respect of same as revealed through scripture? Are you following through with his instruction? If not, do so today as that obedience will form the depth upon which you will discover a rock which will hold that plan, vision or dream firmly. God’s love for you is deeper than the oceans and His presence is everywhere. 

Whenever you’re at the beach just thank God for His beautiful creation.

If His hand has the power to create the seas than rest assured His hand will guide you and get you through trials in life.

Genesis 1:7-10  

So God made a canopy that separated the water beneath the canopy from the water above it.

And that is what happened: God called the canopy “sky.” The twilight and the dawn were the second day.

Then God said, “Let the water beneath the sky come together into one area, and let dry ground appear!”

And that is what happened: God called the dry ground “land,” and he called the water that had come together “oceans.”

And God saw how good it was.

Angels are referred to as masculine, although neither do they have a sexual distinction nor do they marry.

On My birthday

I just need a prayer to be at peace with myself.

I’m tired of fighting daily with my self esteem and self image.

Each year when it’s my birthday in this month I never feel happy because nobody except for a few of my close friends celebrate it.
