The Power of Confession

The Power of Confession
Agree verbally with, before we believe
Confess: acknowledge verbally, assert, declare and proclaim
Confession: The key to unlocking faith
* Confession is faiths way of expressing itself.
For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  (Romans 10:10, ESV)
* After believing, confession is vital, if we are to obtain the promise
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  (Romans 10:9, ESV)
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.  (Mark 11:23, ESV)
* If you really believe something you will speak out
Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak,  (2 Corinthians 4:13, ESV)
*Jesus himself is the high priest (performer) of our confession
Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,  (Hebrews 3:1, ESV)
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  (Hebrews 4:14, ESV)
* Your mouth will utter whatever is store in your Heart
You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  (Matthew 12:34, ESV)

* Renew your mind with God's word
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.  (Romans 12:2, ESV)
* Know that God will by all means perform his word
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.  (1 John 5:14, ESV)
Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it."  (Jeremiah 1:12, ESV)
"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,   (Isaiah 55:10, ESV)
* Confess God's word, not men's ideas
Put me in remembrance; let us argue together; set forth your case, that you may be proved right.   (Isaiah 43:26, ESV)
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.  14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.  (1 John 5:13-14, ESV)
* Faith increases as you hear yourself speaking the word
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.  (Romans 10:17, ESV)

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.   (Psalm 119:130, ESV)

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.  (Acts 17:11, ESV)
* What God, through Christ, has wrought for us in his plan of redemption
* What God has, through the word and the Holy Spirit wrought for us in the New Birth
* What we are to God the father in Christ Jesus
* What Jesus I'd doing for us right now at the right hand of the father
* What God can accomplish through us, and what his word can do through our lips

To confess the right things, we have to thing on the right things

Believe that  it is impossible to please God without faith
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.  (Hebrews 11:6, ESV)
Whenever you speak doubt, you have believed something
You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  (Matthew 12:34, ESV)
Doubt is the think of God greater blessings
23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,  24 but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them.  25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.  26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, "It is a ghost!" and they cried out in fear.  27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid."  28 And Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water."  29 He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.  30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me."  31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"  (Matthew 14:23-31, ESV)
Never confess the problem. Confess the solution

You can have what you say
You can speak your way to life, or to death
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.   (Proverbs 18:21, ESV)
if you are snared in the words of your mouth, caught in the words of your mouth,   (Proverbs 6:2, ESV)
What you say is what you get, whether positive or negative
17 Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan and said to them, "Go up into the Negeb and go up into the hill country,  18 and see what the land is, and whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many,  19 and whether the land that they dwell in is good or bad, and whether the cities that they dwell in are camps or strongholds,  20 and whether the land is rich or poor, and whether there are trees in it or not. Be of good courage and bring some of the fruit of the land." Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes.  21 So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near Lebo-hamath.  22 They went up into the Negeb and came to Hebron. Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. (Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)  23 And they came to the Valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they also brought some pomegranates and figs.  24 That place was called the Valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster that the people of Israel cut down from there.  25 At the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land.  26 And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.  27 And they told him, "We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.  28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there.  29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan."  30 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, "Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it."  31 Then the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are."  32 So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, "The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height.  (Numbers 13:17-32, ESV)

for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."  (Matthew 12:37, ESV)
