Importance of the word of God

Importance of the word of God
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,  32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  (John 8:31-32, ESV)
It is God's love letters to us, the key to life and happiness, and the creators handbook.
1. The word reveals God himself to us
He is holy
15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,  16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."  (1 Peter 1:15-16, ESV)
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.  2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
3 And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!"
4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.  5 And I said: "Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!"  6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar.  7 And he touched my mouth and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for."  (Isaiah 6:1-7, ESV)
He is just
3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations!   4 Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed."   (Revelation 15:3-4, ESV)
[26/01 1:29 am] Divine Push: He is love
8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.  9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.  10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  (1 John 4:8-10, ESV)
He created us
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."  27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.   28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth."  29 And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.  30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so.  (Genesis 1:26-30, ESV)
He provides for our needs
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?  (Romans 8:32, ESV)
[26/01 1:33 am] Divine Push: And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 4:19, ESV)
[26/01 1:33 am] Divine Push: He gives us abundant life
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.  (John 10:10, ESV)
2. The word of God gives us the key to life and happiness
The word of God gives life
49 Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope.   50 This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life.   (Psalm 119:49-50, ESV)
The word of focuses on Jesus Christ, the source of life
11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.  (1 John 5:11-12, ESV)
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.  (John 14:6, ESV)
The word unfolds the blessings of life in Christ
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,  4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.  (2 Peter 1:3-4, ESV)
The word buildup genuine disciples.
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,  (John 8:31, ESV)
And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.  (Acts 20:32, ESV)
The word liberates
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."  (John 8:32, ESV)
